Cardiac surgery is serious business. Each time I see someone's chest cut open and their glistening heart pumping away, I feel as though I am witnessing something that human eyes are not supposed to see. A human life hangs in the balance, and the gravity of the situation forces me to concentrate. The colors, textures, smells and sounds imprint themselves on my memory and my film.
